Myrna Kinlaw, born in Lumberton,
NC, and raised in Florida, and Phil White, of Lorain,
OH, met as students at Moody Bible Institute
in Chicago, Illinois. They spent the first five years of their
marriage traveling through North and South America in music
ministry, first with Word of Life of Schroon Lake, New York,
and then with THE NEW CREATION, a Christian folk
group.
 |
Beginning in 1970,
both Phil and Myrna were members of the original
Discovery Singers on "Day of Discovery,"
the television program of Radio Bible Class. "Day of
Discovery" was filmed at Cypress Gardens, Florida.
Myrna was a soloist on the program until
1985. |
The Whites were original and
continuing members of the John Wilson Singers, a premier recording
group in the Chicago area, recording demo material for Hope Publishing Company of
Carol Stream, Illinois, for over 30 years. Additionally,
Myrna was the soprano of the King's Karollers for 25 years on "Songs
in the Night," the international radio broadcast of the Moody Church in Chicago. She also
appeared for several years on the program "Faith 20," the television
arm of the Back to God
Hour.

One of Myrna's greatest
pleasures musically was performing for years with JUST FOUR, a
group of four women who remain personal
and professional friends. (Joanna Hettinga, Cheryl
Fornelli, and Marcia Twadell have all also been members of the
King's Karollers.)
Myrna made the decision in
1995 to retire from performing. Since that time, she spends
her valuable time with her husband, best friend and traveling
partner, Phil; being mother to their three grown
daughters, Aimee Lilly, Kimberly Corens, and Karma Piņa; and being
"Grandma" to Antonio, Raquel, Lalo, Julia Jo, &
Jason-Paul. Phil is a consultant with IBM Business Consulting
Services, and he and Myrna are back in the Chicago area
after spending four years living in Phoenix near their grandchildren
and, coincidentally, two of their daughters.
